What is Microblading?

Microblading is superficial tattooing technique for the eyebrows in which a small handheld tool made of several fine needles is used to add pigment to the skin. This tool creates extremely fine, hair-like marks in the skin, achieving a very natural result when healed.

Client Suitability

• Acne medications such as Retin-A, Different, Accutane, steroids etc.

• Diabetes (physicians note)

• Uncontrolled hypertension (physicians note)

• Active Herpes breakout (cold sores)

• Skin diseases such as psoriasis or eczema

• Bleeding disorders (physicians note)

• Transmittable blood conditions like HIV or Hepatitis

• Hemofilia

• Healing disorders

• Active skin cancer

• Pregnant/ nursing

• Forms keloids easily

• Cancer, radiotherapy or chemotherapy (physicians note)

• Other serious diseases such as epilepsy, autoimmune disorders, or major heart problems (physicians note)

• Blood thinning medications or glaucoma

• Circulatory disorders (physicians note)

• Recent botox or fillers (must wait about 2 months)

• Sunburn (wait until fully healed)

• After waxing (must wait 2-3 days)

• After chemical peels (must wait 2-6 weeks depending on how abrasive the peel is.)

Is Microblading Painful?

The service can be a little uncomfortable for those who are more sensitive. However, there is a topical anesthetic applied during, to keep this to a minimum to where it is completely tolerable.

How Long Does Microblading Last?

Depending on skin type, and care, the pigment will fade slowly over 1 to 2 years. However, a microblading treatment is at least a two-part process, the better you take care of your brows the longer they’ll last! Make sure to get your touch ups! Otherwise the pigment can fade out sooner than 1 year.

Client Pre Care

  1. Do not work out 48 hours before the procedure. The body can burn for up to 36 hours after a work-out and body heat expands the pores making it harder to retain the pigment.

  2. No alcohol, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, or Pepto-Bismol 48 hours before the treatment. They may cause thinning of the blood.

  3. No caffeine the day of the treatment - It may make your client jittery. Although caffeine is not a blood thinner, it will increase blood pressure which can then cause more bleeding.

  4. Avoid sun and tanning on the face 2 weeks prior to the procedure. We cannot work on compromised skin.

  5. Avoid fish oil, prenatal vitamins, nutritional shakes, and "Hair-Skin-Nails" supplements - They can increase bleeding time or thin the blood.

  6. Discontinue Retin-A, Chemical & Laser peels, Microdermabrasion, Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA), and any chemical exfoliants or "brightening" skincare at least 6 weeks prior to procedure. (Once brows are healed, avoid use of these products near the eyebrows for prevention of premature fading.)

  7. Botox and filler on the forehead, temple, and eye area should be done 3 weeks prior or 2 months after the procedure. Symmetry can be hard to balance with too recent of Botox.

  8. No waxing, tinting, or threading 1 week prior to the procedure. The more natural hair you have the better.

  9. PLEASE NOTE: One may be more sensitive during their menstrual cycle!

  10. Clients who smoke cigarettes have delayed wound healing and accelerated skin aging.

Client After Care

ABSORB - Day Of

• After the procedure, gently blot the area with an unscented baby wipe to absorb excess lymph fluid.

• Do this every 5 minutes until the oozing has stopped.

• Removing this fluid prevents hardening of the lymphatic fluids.

WASH (Days 1-7)

• Wash daily to remove bacteria, build up of product and oils, and dead skin. (Don't worry, THIS DOES NOT REMOVE THE PIGMENT!)

• Gently wash the area each morning and night with a water wipes or un-scented baby wipe. With a very light touch, gently wipe the area.

• To dry, gently pat with a paper tow-el. DO NOT use any cleansing products containing acids (glycolic, lac-tic, or AHA), or exfoliants.

MOISTURIZE AND HYDRATE (Days 1-7)

•Apply a tiny, rice grain amount of Aquaphore once a day with a cotton swab and spread it across the treated area.

• Be sure not to over-apply, as this will suffocate your skin and delay healing. The product should be barely noticeable on the skin.

• NEVER put the product on wet/damp freshly tattooed eye-brows.

IMPORTANT INFO

• Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.

• Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of color.

• No facials, botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

• Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

• Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

• Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days.

• Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

• Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days,

•Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.

• DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

IMPORTANT INFO FOR SHOWERING:

• Limit your showers to 5 minutes so that you do not create too much steam. Keep your face/procedure area out of the water while you wash your body, then, at the end of your shower, wash your hair.

• Your face should only be getting wet only at the end of the shower.
